School closure on Friday 2nd December

As you will know, reluctantly, I made the decision to close the school for children today. I would like to thank you for your understanding and cooperation, and I appreciate that you have had to make last minute changes to your working days to arrange childcare.

Keeping the children safe (and warm) in school is vital of course, and as both of our heating systems failed on Thursday evening along with recent very cold conditions we recognised there was a distinct chance the work would not be complete and the temperature in school may be unacceptably low. Despite engineers working on the problem during the evening, they were not able to guarantee the heating would be functioning fully on Friday, and they have returned today to continue with the replacement work.

So far today we have one boiler functioning and limited heating, and the other boiler being repaired. The engineers are confident the system will be fully functional for school opening on Monday, and we will be kept in touch with developments over the weekend.

We know that we still have a small number of parents who have not yet signed up to parent mail, so they will not receive these important emails. Please contact the school (or a friend) if you are struggling to set this up as it is our main communication method now and vital for situations such as this.

If you hear no further news over the weekend please assume school is open on Monday and we look forward to seeing the children again at 8.40!  Have a lovely weekend with your family.
